Personally, I think it's just wrong-looking, but thought you might be interested.

Hmm, wonder what this means?

Custom made (surprise, surprise!), but not by Fender's custom shop. He/she wanted a guitar which was a hybrid of Fender and Gibson designs, so the person made this as their own design.
The logos etc are decals.

The rest is just about fret wear and neck straightness etc.

i am correct in thinking that 380,000 yen converts to about 3 grand yes?

why so much? you could get a decent vintage jaguar for that. plus if he's selling it for that, does that mean he paid quite a bit more than that to get this thing made?

Prices in Japan are quite different to those of the rest of the world. Anything handmade instantly becomes stupidly expensive, due to the belief over here that handmade goods equate with high quality. Anything which has been produced overseas receives a similar markup in value, especially "boutique" stuff.

Japan as a country has a reputation for obsessive collection of goods, and this is also reflected in the prices. Desirable rare goods are generally vastly overpriced in comparison with the UK/US.
A silverface twin reverb in Japan sells for about 200,000 yen on average. This is not a particularly rare nor especially desirable amp, yet it commands an extremely high price due to the fact it's made in America and no longer made.

Happily, Japanese-manufactured equipment can be found relatively cheaply, as long as the product hasn't yet been deemed collectible. Once it enters that domain, the price skyrockets.

The price set for this guitar is equal parts wishful thinking and knowledge that anything "custom" will sell for far more than it's actually worth. It actually has a small chance of selling.

gah, unless you happen to be the person holding that desireable item that's a bit pish.

on the plus side i expect it's easier to get guitars from fender japan what with, y'know, being in the same country and all.
although you'll be too busy with yer les pauls...

looks like a silvertone body.
or a harmony, you know its not, that bad, but i don't think i would eve pay more than 300 bucks for it just becuz it doesn't feature anything that i really like about guitars except for the blocks and binding.

The B+B look good with the comp stripes but that's it's only real redeeming feature for me.

Most of the awkwardness is down to three things:

1. The pickups
2. The small headstock
3. The tuners
