Jaguar Neck - Duo-Sonic II Headstock Decal

Just bought a 24 inch Duo-Sonic II neck to replace my 22.5 inch. The date stamp (1JUN65B) indicates it’s a Jaguar neck. But it has a DSII decal. Please see images:

I heard the rumor that slab board Duo necks may have been from '62 Jaguars, but this appears to be something different. It looks factory except that ...shouldn't Duo-Sonic II decals have patent numbers? Maybe it’s an early run of these decals? Maybe someone put an aftermarket DSII decal on a '65 Jaguar neck. Why would they do that?
Any help in understanding this neck would be greatly appreciated.

thats not slab board, its veneer styled.
the decal looks like its after market as well as the tuner holes.

I’m aware it is not a slab board … what about the tuner holes? … because they are not the same diameter all the way down?

What about that date stamp makes you think it's not a Duosonic II date stamp??
I've got a '65 Musicmaster II, it's got a 24" B neck. Haven't checked recently, but I would have expected that it's date stamp looks similar to that one.
Why wouldn't it?

because the first digit "1" is for a jaguar.
each model had its own digit
Some people mistake the first digit for the date it was made on.

I read somewhere that a 1 before the date meant a Jaguar ... and 8 or 9 was duo/musicmaster/etc

oh, sorry i mis-read your post.
yeah, the tuner holes should be the same all the way thru.
it would appear that someone at some point tried to put gotohs or grovers on it, or something like that.
so when you do get tuners, if you go the vintage, or vintage correct route you will need convertion bushings for the beast.
but don't let that deter you from pre cbs quility and feel,
i love my 59 duo neck, and every other pre cbs neck has felt like gravy on ghosts to me.
altho my villager and newporter necks could be more round imo.

not to mention if you bought it as a dsII neck, you probably got it for a better price than a jaguar neck

Well, both of those are 24" scale, so its possibly they just ran out of what they needed and grabbed some from another bin, or someone was even stamping a few wrong.

ha, aint that some shit.
you see my duo neck, newporter, and villager are all straight thru.
the duo is dated within the first bit of 1960 and its pencil dated so its literally the date and nothing else.
as far as the newporter and villager neck the dating is rather odd and i have not figured it out yet, all i know is the the villager is a 66-67 judging by the decal and the newporter is a late 60's, once again, judging by the decal.

I think some years all the 24" scale necks were the exact same apart from the decal, the only difference was nut width and that wasn't specific to the guitar model.

Thanks for all the feedback. Anyone else want to give their 2 cents? Regarding the decal with no patent numbers? anyone ever seen this? Even the re-issue ones have the patent numbers ...

there's something here about fender using different sources for decals:

Thanks for the input y'all. My conclusion is that this is an original 1965 Jaguar neck (I think the tuner holes are factory ...) with a non-factory Duo-Sonic II decal installation and I will treat as such. Thanks for everything.
