I thought it would be interesting to see where and when every one bought their first short scale guitar.
To start off I bought mine at a little store in pike place market called Emerald City Guitars., the date was or I believe to be December 26 2007.

My first shortscale was my Jag-Stang back in 1997 - got it from the Academy of Sound in Stoke-on-Trent.

I will never forget/sell my japanese blue compstang. I didn't care much about guitar but was starting up Swing Hailey and I was just DRAWN to it at the Cerritos Sam Ash. I played it and HAD to get it so I loaned the money. If it wasn't for that Stang I'd never be here. It was one of my happiest moments as a musician.

Jag-Stang in 2000 or 2001. Not the best introduction.

This shady looking guy with long blonde hair and a stripy jumper gave me mine in 2006. He said he wasn't in the music business anymore.

...If we don't count the 20" scale classical my parents had made for me in the Philippines when I was three...

Ebay. 2002 I think? The Jag below, graduation present for high school...

Then I learned that I shouldn't like it, because of the bridge and pickups, so didn't play it for a couple years. Then got really pissed off when I pulled it out and re-discovered that it sounded better and suited me more than a few Gibsons that I'd wasted an assload of money on :?

<3 ever since.

Lolz I was mad @ Fredo for some petty reason. My birthday was coming up and I was throwing all sorts of tantrums when Fredo jumps into his closet and pulls out a white Mustang bass he was saving for my birthday. He had remembered that I was oogling at a Fiesta red one at a music shop and I was getting better at transitioning to bass so he decided it was time for my first Fender and first shortscale! I should throw tantrums more often. I get shortscales out of it <3

I tried to buy a Jaguar but couldn't find one so opted for a Jazzmaster as it was all I could get my hands on, then a few weeks later a guy who used the same rehearsal studio as me was selling his Vista Jagmaster so I bought that. A month or 2 later I got my Jaguar from ebay (USA) for extra cheapness.

Timeline:

March 2005: Win auction on AVRI Jag (which I got royally reamed on the postage of). Celebrate by making Mrs Benecol pregnant.

August 2005: Bend bike

Septenmber 2005: In impending climate of baby-skintness, sell Jag and buy SG and a new bike.

I loved it - fatter neck than I've got. If it was white rather than walnut, I'd still have it.

A small guitar shop in Sutton-in-ashfield called 'Dougs Cabin' in 1996. I was a regular there but it closed a few years ago, the owner (Doug) was a Jehovas Witness and went to spread the good word moving to Cumbria. The guitar was a Fiesta Red Fender Jagstang. I could not afford a Jaguar so i got the JS, but i was'nt as knowledgeable back then about set up and got rid of it for the Jap Flying V that i still own to this day.

I got a used Bronco in a Ottawa pawn shop in 1975. It had a Fender widerange added in the neck position. I wish I still had it.

I bought my Mustang from a local music shop here in Orkney (K2 music if you must know) back in 2006. I got it reduced for £400 instead of like £520. I was chuffed.
