Fender Lead I - CHEEPZ?

If I can come up with some dough, I could score a Fender Lead I in the original case, the guy was selling the neck for 40 and I asked him if he had the body. I've always fancied this (rare??) guitar, the minimal design. Didn't MISSION OF BURMA rawk one?

DAMN IT ALL. He wanted 300, I said no way, he said whats a good price for you. SHIT. I just bought a curtis novak pickup and a LPB-1 pedal, all I have is 10$.

This makes me sad. Very sad. But, if anyone would help fund it, I can sell my mint VOX wah and EHX small clone.

LAWL. No, I was thinking around 100 though from the low neck price and I though he just had the body w/out elec. I've never played a lead, aren't they like fenders gibson?

Lead II, I think...

Fender tried something new with the paint on these, so loads of them (particularly black ones) degraded badly and have a cloudy, crackly effect.

The same guy is selling a crapload of ceap stuff, a 'on the fritz' jekyl and hyde for 25, mint fuzzface for 50, Valve junior head for 50. here's the listing, though the LEAD isnt listed, he just said he was selling it via email. LANK

The body shape is gorgeous though- full scale length, but small bodied and really cool, almost Travis Bean double cutaway.

Yeah, 250 is more realistic, the nut is broken, too.

I suppose I have bad GAS because my jag is dismantled on my floor missing a neck pickup, I have a gig tomorrow without it, I have to use a STRAT

Figured it'd be a good backup/alternative.

mine doesnt help much as far as buying guitars.

i wish i had a source of EXTRA income that i didnt have to do any work for and somehow it was like monopoly money for guitars so i could buy them all the time and never feel guilty.

if it helps, they're not that rare. i'm sure another one'll come along in future if you keep your eyes peeled. or try a fender bullet, they're a similar idea/time period and also fairly common.

Nooo. They have traditional tele/strat type construction and very stratty necks (7.25 radius even, nice necks). The Lead II (Burma guitar) had X-1 single coils (the Smith Strat bridge pickups). They were all routed for neck singles and bridge buckers, the neck single being routed to humbucker size for the Lead III models, the Lead Is having a superflous single coil route in the neck position (and the bridge position of the Lead II being straight-humbucker routed, despite an angled strat single being in it).

Seth Lover designed the humbuckers but if that's the only thing drawing you to the "Fender's Gibson" tag, just look at the Tele Deluxe... Layed out exactly like a Les Paul, with chrome-covered Seth Lover humbuckers. And yet when you play it, it's still a Tele. (And thats before you consider the FLAME!!!)

The basic construction of these things is hardtail Strats in a different shape.

Lead II

thanks for clarification, I love 7.25 necks, they feel so much more comfortable. I've seen some bullets on fleabay, similar.
