Hi,

are Musicmaster neck plate screws the same size as Stratocaster screws, or are they shorter (because the Musicmaster body is thinner than a Strat one)?

If it's the same as the duo-sonic screws they're identical to the strat ones. At least they are on the re-issue.

im thinknig they are about the same size.
even tho my vintage duo body is rather slim, the neck sits higher up in the neck pocket, so in the end it all evens out.

ah thanks for that.

seriously, this has annoyed me for years, why answer the thread? it's not a direct question, if you don't know you can just leave the thread it's not like a face to face conversation.

Yeah, I can't claim it was a good joke. But the bottom line is that it was deliberate, so basically I win.

i thought the joke was someone assuming that every strat screw was the same length.

ITS LIKE OVER 50 YEARS OF FUCKING SCREWS YOU THINK THEY ARE ALL THE SAME?

ive actually never thought about it.

couldnt you just poke something into the hole and measure how far it goes in, and then compare that to the length of a "strat screw?"

also, musicmaster bodies are thinner, but are the neck pocket parts that much different?

The only difference I have ever found in Fender parts is in the 3-bolt neck variety, and the jumbo acoustics. Otherwise, all same screws. No drama.

The upper 2 screws of a 3-bolt neck joint use the same screws as 4-bolts too, they're just closer together. I just converted a classic 70s neck to 4-bolt and used the 2 o.g. screws on top (also, Mexican 3-bolt RI necks have the two lower holes for a 4-bolt, wtf... maybe they're screwed to a jig to route for the micro-tilt disc?)

On the original butterscotch broadcasters and teles they were flatheads, I guess that doesn't count.
