My work on a Korean Folk troup.

And now for something different...

I got contacted about 2 years ago by a nice dude in his late 40s who has done folk stuff with a band of 20 somethings since the early 90s. He apparently had seen the Dorohty in Wonderland band play live and found out that I was behind the production, and asked me to co-write a tune with him along the vibe of Sopoong. Fast forward to last summer when I spent a month putting the track together with 'em. CIJ Strat and Jag Bass, along with keys, Shaw Penny Whistle(G) and some strenuous drum programming led to a cute little tune that was quite a stretch for the group, genre-wise...But they all have really sweet voices for the job, especially when layered. Lyrics by band leader Hochan Lee, music by Hochan and myself, the track arranged by moi. I played some trumpet and flute on other tracks, but the following is definitely the title song of the album. Though I'd be surprised if they move 5000 units total, it's a catchy tune that repeatedly speaks metaphorically about "...Riding the blue wind, passing seven peaks and twelve clouds", something Mr. Lee hasn't quite explained in full. :?

They're called Haeoreun Nuri, which roughly means "The World Beneath a Risen Sun", and the tune is called Poongseon Yeohaeng "Balloon Holiday". Bubbly music a departure for a band that does stuff that sounds like songs from '60s protest singer...But it's also the opposite of teh kurdtz unplugged.

Also...

Sooper low-budget video clip of new tune Chuil Seojeong "Recollections of on an Autumn Day". Lead singer Jeonghwa Song miming the double-tracked whisper lines in what she's so incredibly good at pulling off... http://tvpot.daum.net/my/PlayListClipVi ... tid=529433 She was such an angel, always serving me tea just minutes upon arriving each day at the studio, and has a smile to brighten up the room. Trewth be told, if I weren't happily married to Cindi I'd have been dropping by MUCH MORE OFTEN just to hang with her. Have I mentioned that I freakin' love her voice?
