So I was trolling ebay -> vintage guitars (pre-1980).

Talk about all other types of guitars. Jazzmasters and basses go here!

And I got meself a lappy. with matching amp.

Thing is, the amp is probably from the 40s, and doesn't work. Great. My friend's dad is huge into old radios and stuff and I'm going to bring it up on his variac.

Hopefully, I can get it working.

I have looked at those and resisted the urge. It's tempting though.

Awesome score, dude. I'll be resuming my vintage lap-steel search once my bank account recovers from the toneport and amp I've bought in the past couple months.

congrats

I'm learning lap steel at the moment, from low to high, A E F# A C# E is a great tuning for playing along to hank williams records.
everything is not going to be alright

Lapsteel is on my project list after the '52 Tele Custom is completed and I've squared away all the bridge bits for my new strat... I'm pretty sure I have everything I need already to make a basic one, and it seems to me like the easiest possible scratch-build for a guitar as you don't have to make a neck.
They have vintage Fender and Gretsch ones for less money than I would imagine at the used shops though, that's always tempting to the impulse-ridden electric spanish player in me.
