i like using guitar pedals on vocals too, i've never had this thing happen that a pedal just doesn't take the signal coming from the mic all the rest of my pedals (eventho the signal for an instrument is hotter) do work when you put a microphone into the input, some work a bit different than they do with instruments (tgd for instance) but still they work. today for the first time i wanted to use a synth pedal in the mix too and when i turned it on i couldn't hear the effect nomatter what settings. i use a boss line selector to have an A B mix so i have a clean voice double sound there too instead of just fx.
so i took the pedal off the board and just tried it on its own mic into input output into amp.. nothing. works fine on guitars and bass though.. maybe if i put a preamp in front of it because it just needs a hotter signal and the other pedals don't ? or put a distortion or fuzz in front of it ?

Did you try putting mic in another pedal first the the bass synth?

yeah it's mic into boss ls2 line selector - behringer pitch shifter - behringer synth - delay - reverb

all other three pedals work, i turn on the synth but there is no synth sound coming out, just my voice clean through the line selector and whatever other effect is on on line A (B is clean voice)

i would try putting a fuzz that can sound sort of clean in front of the synth like the fulltone or something just for a boost but fuzz on a voice wouldn't really work well for the band i'm gonna try out with, there's so much going on already and i don't want lots of pedals

I think it's because the synth needs to track a real guitar signal or doesn't work.

Have you tried singing loud, high and low constant notes?

yeah i tried that like all aaahhhhs and eeehhhs lol no workie it's probably just a signal issue the signal just not being hot enough for it to pick up anything

Have you tried putting a guitar or keyboard into the LS-2 instead of the mic, and check the bass synth works? Just to check it's the vocals causing the problem, and not the settup...

Also obvious, but...doesn't the Behringer bass synth have 2 outputs (clean and effected). You definitely outputting from the effected signal jack?

i've done all that, i've used it lots with guitar, don't have a synth, did use the correct output not the direct out
it's just a signal problem i should just sit down with it and try some signal boosting pedals in front of it to prove that i guess but it's just a pity it doesn't work with just clean vocals so i could add a synthy layer to certain parts without needing extra pedals, it is a pedal that does sound neater when put through a distortion or fuzz or with that kind of effect in front of it with guitar and bass too though, just makes it more of an actual raw synth

Can't you use the LS-2's volume controls to boost the signal, or does that make one side too loud??

Is the Behringer bass synth a good pedal btw? I've found someone to buy it for £22, so might get one to have a play..

so ok, i just sat down and just used the bass sytnh on its own with a mic into it into an amp and it does its effect when i shout into the mic real quick or beat the mic so it's nothing more than a signal thing

then i put an mxr blue box in front of the pedal, the synth started to respond a bit quicker didn't need to shout real loud anymore, and it defo had more effect when i put the mxr real loud... so.. to use it on vocals i would need a signal boosting pedal, it's nice really, you can change the pitch with the knobs and all i guess it would be ok for a set when you're sitting down by your pedals constantly

line selector does come before the pedals but it just makes the final sound louder doesn't make the input louder.. if that makes sense also there wouldn't be balance between the other effects anymore and my clean voice would just drown

mxr volume almost all the way up, right knob all the way down (low octave)

it's weird how silent the mic stays when you don't sing into it, maybe because the mxr is so gated, no feedback at all

I'll sort it out, no worries. It'll be a fun project and interesting to cram everything in.

It's a very diddy little case. I reckon I'll have to just put a trimpot inside to adjust the level as there won't be room for a pot on there, but you can just set it for a mic to work and then forget it.

I bought it on a whim and haven't had anything to do with it, now I do!

It'll fit although it'll be a bit cramped. I'm going to make a boost pedal in a case that size soon. I was actually going to it make a metallic purple SHO, using one of those large triangle knobs and then I came across this...
