Would be awesome. But the white PG, dolphin nose, and top jack keep the collectors at bay.

totally. itd be 600 more without those things. im all about getting whatever the "collectors" aren't, hence my silvertone instead of a 2 pup DC, melody maker instead of sg junior, etc.

im looking at guilds, g+ls, ernie balls and musicmans next. especially guilds.

You already got me. I know that I don't need any more guitars, but a U1 looks so nice right now. Every time I think I'm over it, I hear that lipstick pup sound somewhere and it pulls me back in.

I have 3 guitars with me right now. My '57 U1 in my room, my U1 reissue that lives in a friend's room, and a Mustang which lives in a gig bag and only comes out twice a week for rehearsals.

The U1s are amazing.

That looks awesome. Out of curiosity, Duo, how versatile do you feel the neck pickup-only setup is?

Ummm.... For cleans, it's amazing. Twangy, full, acoustic, smooth - anything you want. The tone switch gives a lot of variety, but most of it comes from the guitar itself being really responsive. I feel like I can do more with dynamics and picking location on Danos then I can on any other guitar.

It doesn't do distortion very well. Actually, it kinda sucks.

I posted some sound samples on a website I've been working on:
www.Danelectrou.webs.com

The site is still waaayyyyy in its infancy and I was waiting to make a thread about it, but the samples are up and can give you a sense of the sounds.

ive been really appreciating having the bridge pickup on my silvertone. this is by far my most versatile guitar, what the neck position lacks in distortion clarity, the bridge has in droves. its not great for clarity under extreme distortion, but it sounds cool even then in a really noisey kind of way.

that said, for rhythm work its hard to beat the neck pickup. round and full and beautiful. with light overdrive it still sounds great.

single pickup danos go for so much cheaper, i think if i do get a U itll be a 1. totally worth it, and yeah, plenty versatile.
