I'd consider buying a DL-4 for the soul purpose of looping if I felt it proper to spend like 250 tops, but I don't.
I also hear that these pedals tend to break under constant pressure, so I suppose that could be whats up with that one.
Looping is spectacular on it I think, I really like the play once feature, reverse, double time and whatever other added bonuses they added to the four stomps.
Delay seems like just an added bonus to me, I remember it having something that reminds me of a ring mod on it.

The DL4s looper is more like an added in bonus to the delays, if you were going to buy it mainly for the looper i would recommend a loop pedal from boss, you could probably save money and get a much better looper. I had a line 6 DL4 but had to get rid of it due to lack of moneys I love that delay it really is a great pedal, and the looper is fun if you need an easy looper to use live then the DL4 is good the guitarist of minus the bear uses 4 DL4s on his board with 2 of them set for loops, and that works great live. But for like a home looper, for just adding loop on loop and jamming along and all that stuff the DL4 is not the way to go.
but that's my 2 cents, take it as you will

DL4 is the best looper there is for live short loops.

I have the JM4, which is pretty awesome. Can handle long loops up to something ridiculous like 25 minutes. Can also do stuff like tempo shifting and volume mixing (although maybe you can do that on the DL4 - I have no idea).
