import a song into garage band as a track?

can i do that?
me mum needs a snippet from a song. can i just import the song from cd or itunes as a new track and then edit?

You should just be able to fire up a new GB session and drag the song in from the Finder after you've imported it.

I also use QuickTime pro for tiny bits. It's got file formats that make it well worth $30. I already had it though--maybe those things are in GB already.

Yeah, GB would be the best cheap way to do it.
