I got this amp fairly recently (used, its the bigger and better version of the epiphone valve jr), and I really love it. When its working. I blew a fuse the third day I had it. I bought eight replacement ones and blew two of them in 10 minutes. I figured to much current was being sent to it, so I put aluminum foil over it, and now its working fine. I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experiences with this amp? Or with any other amp.
Sound wise, this thing is alot better than I expected it. Very crunchy, especially cranked.

i can't see how replacing a fuse with foil is ever a good idea.
get the thing looked at or something. you might be doing long term damage to it.

well its definately a short term solution. I just reserved a spot at my closest epiphone warranty shop (Its not under warranty, so its definately going to smack my wallet). Its going to be two weeks before they look at it. Hope I dont fry it completely before then

lol, it's a 'better' version but it broke on the third day you owned it. Superb.

Just be careful that when your shit happens, you don't wrap it up in aluminium foil and plug it into the wall. Them sort of voltages can be dangerous.

dude, putting foil in there is a great way to mess up your amp and probably a good way to void your warranty. the fuse is there for a reason.

After reading my post it does sound like a dumb idea. Guess ill just have to wait some weeks for a new one. Im just wondering if this is common for this amp, I wouldnt have gotten it if I knew it was

There's a reason they put fuses in amps, and a reason it's blowing. Be careful or you'll be out an amp instead of a fuse. Have you tried trouble shooting the outlet?

Check the power tubes - a bum power tube is the main reason fuses blow.

They reconmended buying a new fuse, which worked for about ten minutes, then that blew out. And so did the second one I put in. I think the rectifier tube is running to much current into it. As a last ditch effort to avoid waiting a month for a new amp, im going to try and get a NOS rectifier, which suppositly really helps. I just really hopes that helps. Im never going to get off of solid state at this rate:(

A tube rectifier? WOW - old school.
Are you using SLO-BLO fuses?
