alrighty guys,
i've had a mim jag w/ a screw in trem arm for a while and the trem arm is loose and dosent stay in place like other jag trem arms.
so... what do i do to make it stay in place like a normal jag trem?

screw it in farther....
what do you mean?
like you want it to pop in like a normal arm?
just buy an american arm and an american collet, i think it will match, if not, use a drill press.

like, i screw it in until it stops. any thing before that it wobbles and what not.
a normal jag trem stays in places this dosent.
how about electrical tape?

Ha, sorry. That might have been confusing.
I meant 'gah' as an expression of exasperation. What are you going to do with electrical tape?

its a screw in trem,
screw it into place,
are you talking about other MIM jags, or other jags in general?

I think he's bemoaning the fact that it's a screw in trem rather than the usual slidey in and click type found on Japanese and American Jags.
I would have thought the threading on the bottom of the trem arm made it obvious how it works.

i was thinking (maybe w/ a thinner tape) wrap it around the end of the arm to reduce wobble and keep it in place.

Screw it in until it's tight, then take it back a rotation until it's where you want it to be, and leave it there. It should be fairly tight in this area.
It's the same logic as a strat trem isn't it? If you really wanted, you could take the end off of one of those pencils that has a rubber on the end, and put that in the collet. Screw down into the rubber a turn or two, and it should hold tight between the thread and the rubber. PRO TIP.
I've never tried this, although I reckon I will soon.

like, the threaded end dosent fit its too small and wobbles a lot. i had a strat with a screw in trem and it fit fine (stayed in place)
i can probably live with it, even though it bugs me and i want to fix it, i wanted to know if tape works though. i dont want to fuck up the guitar.

Does it grip the thread? Have you tried the "keep turning it until it tightens" method? I reckon the pencil rubber thing will work.

give up. you're not cut out for tremolo if you can't screw in the arm.

ROLF.
Teflon/PTFE tape on the threads will sturdy it a bit.
Cant fault you mike, its in the top 3 trem systems imo.
