Hofner Galaxie

Post by othomas2 »

I would actually really like this... too pricey though at that price.

Would it play like a dog ?

Its a gamble. Hofner were generally decent but it does look suspect by design. Maybe at £250 i'd have a punt but that will never happen due to collectors.

While I was doing a search earlier I spotted 2.... one at £350 and the other at £360 so god knows why they're paying that much.

These are good guitars. A little on the heavy side though...

I feel George played the same on all his electrics at that point, so he's never made me want a specific model through use.
Plus he played the ones that are stupid expensive and surrounded with an air of arrogance.

George Harrison makes me want that rosewood tele.
And Lou Reed makes me want an Electric XII and a Sparkle Tele.
That guitar looks ace though i would buy it if i wasnt already up to my neck in want.

It's similar, but Alden did an even closer approximation a year or two ago, but I can't remember the name of it now. In fact, the Hutchins Fury is pretty damn close, especially thanks to the paisley finish and the fretboard markers (and pickups, and switches.. etc). Some of the original Galaxies had tolex finishes and all sorts of crazy shit going on.
