Danelectro Respond Over Transparent Overdrive

Nicked from elsewhere: Danelectro have checked out the TOD and the Timmy, and have reported back...
  • Since my last post, my engineer friend has been working diligently on the Cool Cat circuit revisions. The Transparent Overdrive has been his first priority. Over the past month or so, he has come up with his own design for that model which is quite different than the Tim, and not like anything else we are aware of. I listened to it again yesterday and it is good, but some more tweeks are needed. Once this circuit is finalized and a new PCB is designed, we will produce a pilot run. From that pilot run quantity, we will make some beta test samples available. At that point we will discontinue production of the old model and begin production of the new design.

Our intention is to complete the design for the Transparent Overdrive soon and then one by one redesign and improve each model in the Cool Cat line. Each time we finish a design I will endeavor to provide an update.

    Best regards,

in all seriousness, i'm surprised they haven't mentioned the fuzz in light of fran's allegid note of her closing down shop. The pedals aren't exact replicas, at least in sound, sure, schematic might be dead on, but each one has it's own variation. This could affect the first run of pedal's prices, but shouldn't be too bad, they're already at an amazing price as it is being their such good quality, AND sound nice.
Will be interesting to see what they change in the next couple of months though.

This is bad, I really hope the new versions of these pedals dont suck. I like the cool cats and I want them to stay good. Glad i got my fuzz when i did. I need to get the overdrive not the transparent one just the normal one. Need to get one before they change them. or maybe they will make them better, probably not though. They need to just be totally punx about this and keep the circuit the same. lolz

Why would they freak about changing them it's not like Danelectro hasn't copied stuff before. What do they have to lose? A bunch of crybaby boutiquers won't by Danelectro products anymore, who craes? They probably wouldn't play Danelectro stuff anyways.

$99 - Transparent OD, Tremolo, & Vibe

I think this is a good deal, but damn why do they always have to throw in THE ONE PEDAL I DON'T WANT (vibe). I mean come on, like I'm gonna vibe my tremolo and shit. damn. just put the fucking distortion (or fuzz) in there and sell a shit ton of these fuckers.

Apparently the Vibe is a very good Univibe copy, which is two modifications away from greatness.

1. It has a lag of 2 seconds after you turn it on because they're running the LFO Lamp off a power supply which is only enabled when you switch it on. This is to save batteries. Fuck batteries. WHY DO YOU HATE GOD'S EARTH YOU HEATHEN?
2. Volume boost. Insert trimpot before output lug on 3PDT.
