Mushmaster No More

I got ambitious this weekend. Decided to change my blue Musicmaster around. I finally installed the SD Phat Cat in the bridge to replace the wretched little EMG bucker that resided there. I also took out the switching and installed a mini 3 way toggle and added a tone control back in. I even cleaned the 35 years of grunge on the fretboard. That shit was on there! Hell, I even oiled it.
Of course being anal about details, I neglected to read the part about a 500k pot for the Phat Cat. Screw it, 250k it is. It just won't be as bright. Acually, it's not that dark sounding. The more you overdrive it, the more you have to roll back the tone (like my Bronco). It's a rocker pickup for sure. The best part, is by lowering the SD and raising the Musicmaster pickup, I can acually get a pretty good volume match. Raise the SD just a hair and it gets way louder in a hurry. Overall, a worthwhile little project.
