you just gotta get them sticky hands.

i never had a good time using free samples from wherever, mostly i take MP3s and slice em up, although i know that that isnt really 'free,' either, in a sense.

you can get a whole other techno song from just one kraftwerk track. c'mon.

d'you think ol daftpunk there get their samples from samplez.net or something? nah.

my point is, i can't help and i'm of no use at all, except to lightly talk shit on the entire premise of your thread. good day, sir!

EDIT- try this forum. ill bet they can lead you in some good directions:

http://www.futureproducers.com/forums/

edit2- eeeh, alot of DBs in that forum. still, if they lead you to some decent samples...

i still recommend sampling from source. have you tried bittorrent? also, you could sample some shit from podcasts, like mad decent and stones throw, thats free as in free beer (but may still be copyrighted. although alot of the shit they sample is too, and i doubt they bought the rights.)

what kind of samples are you needing? what kind of music are you making?

nah, is that I just bought an electribe sx and wanted to try out the whole transferring of samples using the memory card thing...as for the type of samples it was mostly synth hits...I wasn't really trying to sample a drum loop, James Brown or Aretha Franklin...I'm not trying to be public enemy...although...

reason and live, thats like 1000 USD right there.

id rather reaktor than reason, more flexibility and versatility, more individuality. but reason is an OK sort of soft swiss army synth, i guess.

did you find any samples yet?

edit- you got a super nintendo, NG? thats all kinds of samples, if you have the right games. Rtype III and street fighter 2 both have badassed SFX tests. just the SFX from RTIII are like the baddest ass drum machine youve ever heard.

Well I am using FL studio, might get some samples from there...As for a super nintendo, I don't have one but a friend does...I bought the ESX because I don't trust Windows Vista...One time before a gig the damn thing decided to upgrade right before we went on...

hahahahaha, thats hilarious/horrifying. i cant think of anything quite so uniquely and acutely frustrating as a mandatory "update" that wont even perform in the background.

thats the part where i go in to a child like fit of "MY COMPUTER! MY COMPUTER!" and swear that my NEXT computer will be linux. i think itll actually happen this time.

It was our first gig, and we were already on stage...we started to do a little ambient jam on our synths, until the upgrade happened...like 10 min...It hasn't happened again, but it did it on the last practice...

maybe I should just buy samples...the first two look cool...
