I didn't know they made Mustang reissues in 1990. I had always thought they only started making them around the mid-90's. When did they actually start making them?

If those are "real" wide-rangers, the pickups alone are worth more than what he's asking for the guitar. Somebody could buy this, sell the pickups, do a proper restoration of the Mustang and probably come out ahead in terms of $.
