Thinking about making pedals. Need Help and such.

I was inspired recently in a thread (cant remember which one) when mike stated he had a board of his own pedals he built (unless i stand corrected).
This inspiration led me to want to start building pedals.
And I would like to know... All the parts for a Tremolo,Overdrive,Fuzz, Octave, and Green Ringer.
A bit steep I know...
Lets Start with the fuzz then.
Now what i would like to know from the kind people at shortscale.....
All the components i would need, where to find the casing, how much is it all, and how to make decals for them, I'm looking to start very small so im looking for the cheapest (but not horrible) parts i could conder (so if i fuck up im not screwed).
So far this is all i could think of asking, and let me tell you, I'm really excited to start and learn how.
This will be the first of maybe 2 or 3 threads, And I'll edit this post If theres anymore questions.
Thanks!
Also could anyone reccomend me a cheap dc brick. Im on an extremely tight budget taking such a hit on the MIM Jag.

Why not try a kit first and build your chops?

You should totally make one of these. It would sound great with that amp you're making:

I thought of that, but I want to make it completely from scratch. (not completely) and I want to make it cheaper. Also because I could buy a brand new fuzz for as much as they charge for the parts to make it.

It's all good. I'll admit though it was a funny ass picture.

get a capacitor set (ceramic), a resistor set, some electrolytic capacitors, some LEDs, some 3pdt switches, some solder, some wick, some wire, maybe some transistors.

boxes can be found at electrical outlets like maplin.

if you want to make your own pcbs, you will have to learn to etch a pcb, which isn't too difficult.

Where at in Pittsburgh do you live? I live about 2-3 miles north of downtown.

In the process of making it. Its been going slow because I need to find all the components and such to buy to wire it. then make chassis find a way to get tubes and crap put on. Then Make the head (easiest part) Find out how to tolex it. Paint it and It'll be rocking by then along with a pedalboard full of homemade pedals if I get all the work done. (pretty ambitious) I was going to be lazy and buy a tiny terror and some pedals but i'd rather make it all myself.

A silicon Fuzz Face is a good place to start. Runoffgroove has a modified version which is very nice - the perfboard layout is roomy and makes an easy first project.

Most of the parts can actually be bought at Radio Shack: a 2N2222 for Q1 and a 2N5088 or 2N3904 for Q2. The resistors and capacitors are all common values.

so you're building what, two guitars, 5 pedals and an amp?

i'd say, focus on one a lil bit more lest you end up with nothing after a lot of work.

Im ambitious.
No really, I'm making the amp slowly but surely, and 1 pedal for now. more later when I'm better.
and harsh reality showed I can't make my xii. and I like my Jaguar enough so i dont need to make any guitars right now.

Will a pre punched IC perf board work?

For now?
I've been reading TimHulio's thread on how to make PCB's so i might look into that.
