I really like mine, it's a pretty great sounding digital delay. It has the best reverse echo I've used, and some really unique features not found on any other delay pedal. I even prefer it over the Line 6 DL4 I owned before it, unlike the DL4 you can use all the delay modes with the looper, and I find the delay modes on the SMMH to be more useful (I only used a couple on the DL4). Any of the demo vids on YouTube will give you a pretty good idea of it's capabilities. Hope that helps.

I was just investigating mine in a bit more detail tonight. Managed to get some nice short delay/reverb out of it.
I always thought this was one of it's weaker areas but it turns out it's not.
Best things about it are:
1) Reverse delay - you can even set it to 100% wet for backwards lead parts (sounds amazing low in the mix)
2) 30 second looper - great for practising/writing. Also has ability to reverse/speed up/slow down loops. crazy sounds aplenty
3) About as good a digital delay as I've played
Actually, Aen does a great job of summing it up

i actually use my ad-9 for shorter delays, havent really found the best short delays with it yet but im probably not trying hard enough. some great sounds and its good to be able to save the settings (although only 1 per delay type)
the loop speed up/slow down/reverse is awesome, was one of hte main reasons i got mine too

the 30 sec looper was the Dealbreaker for me. even the Digitech Hardwire Looper Delay has 20 secs i think?
i really see the Memory Man w/ Hazarai a pedal for creative types w/ ideas & i think other Delay/Looper pedals are for more conventional, traditional people & guitarists or whatever.

correct me if im wrong, cause this is what i've understood from demos and manual.
when you record a loop you cant really stop it and start it again, right? just bypass it, and when you put it back on it might be in the middle of the loop you recorded.
if this is true its my only problem with the hazarai, making the looper useles in most the cases i imagine using it.
please someone tell me im stupid and i didnt understand how it works

I'm sure if you turn the loop off then on again, it starts the loop again from the position you originally started recording from.
Off/On restarts the loop.

This is correct, I own one.

thanks
thanks great, now i have to convince myself that the fact that you have to record while pressing isnt enough to stop me from getting that

you're bloody fickle aren't you?
you might as well say the fact you have to plug it in would turn you off.

its just that i have specific things i want to do with the loop function. one of them includes turning on/off other pedals while looping, and its quite tricky to do that while pressing that switch, isnt it?

I know there's a way to mod it if you're into that sort of thing, but I don't have any links for ya.

what exactly did you mean by "bypass?"

as you see on the pedal there isnt a start/stop switch but 'bypass' instead.
this (mistakenly) lead me to believe that when you press the bypass switch the loop doesnt really stop just the pedal gets in true bypass mode so when you put it back on, the loop which was playing in the background might be in the middle of its duration. Actually, this is what happens with deluxe memory man. when you press the on/off switch the delays continue to play but they are disengaged so you cant hear. If you have feedback turned up quite high when you turn the pedal on again you will hear the delays from before. Anyway, I dont know why I got this impression, but luckily its not like that and the bypass switch is proper start/stop.
I have already sold my DL4 and hazarai its on its way to me. In addition to that, thanks to Barnes, I found out that you can install a non-momentary switch in order to not have to hold the switch pressed while recording.
I can find the link is anyone's interested

You can record 2 loops and play them. Like record a loop, stop then play it back and record something over it and then play both of those back and play over that. So you can have about 3 layers going on at the same time...each having their own effect if you like. Plus whatever you run into the hazarai (muff, pog, etc) that gets recorded. I think the Hazarai shares the same recording tech as the 2880...but only 30 seconds of time.
Also...don't pay attention to the labeling on the hazarai because the white hazarai knob switches the modes on the pedal, so that the "bypass" is no longer a "bypass" but a playback button/recorder/eraser

If you do this it will break tap tempo functionality I'm afraid, or you'll have to tap in using a latching switch which will probably be tricky.

yes thats true.
i dont really use tap tempo, but if possible i would like to keep that.
Once the pedal is here I will check the circuit and try to come up with a way that both could work which will probably include an extra switch (externally or not) and possible a toggle(?).
One guy was installed an extra toggle that controls start/stop function and tap tempo is still working with the stock switch. I think things can be worked out, any ideas welcome
