being somewhat of a string winder connosseur i have quite a collection.

the one on the left was jimi hendrix's, and the blue one is actually a copy made in the phillipines and used by an american serviceman in vietnam. you can tell by the size of the logo.
naturally i only collect vintage string winders, made between the years 1917 and 1942.

Right now I'm using a planet waves thingy with a built-in cutter. I've had it so long it's actually rusty and squeaky.

I know, why would you ever spend $2.50 on a something that makes a task take half as much time. Also if you have an acoustic they're great for pulling out string pegs with out fucking them upMike wrote:What the fuck is the matter with you people? Since when was stringing a guitar an ardous task?
Fuck String Winders.
Do you put on your shoes with ShoeHorns every morning?
Fuzz monkeys are generally fed the most bananas
I'm going to be restringing my jag-stang later. Can't wait. I'm going to give it a good and proper cleaning. I think I might go for twelves on it.
I've a gig tomorrow night, and an hour before the last gig I realised the D string was unwnding about seven or eigth inches away from the bridge. I was amazed it held up, given that I'm a fairly physical player and was whiskey drunk at the gig.

i'm actually thinking of making a shoe horn. what sort of materials would you guys recommend? bone or plastic? maybe i could get hold of some ivory and make it the old fashioned way. bear in mind i'm pretty much a shoe horn noob, but i'm keen to learn how it's done.Mike wrote:Do you put on your shoes with ShoeHorns every morning?
i know there are probably websites out there dedicated specifically to shoe horn manufacture and all that goes with it, but i can't be bothered spending 5 seconds typing my requirements into a search engine.
help me people!

Why would you want to halve the time it takes to string up a guitar (and I'm not sure I spend half my time winding up the strings, if you wind them around the pegs correctly you have to take out minimum slack)?light rail coyote wrote:I know, why would you ever spend $2.50 on a something that makes a task take half as much time.
