Pedal powering... micro pog **you tube vid added

O.k. I have a micro pog on its way to me as we speak.

I was just double checking the powering for it... as I turned down the p/supply that came with it.

I'm now wondering if my power bank will supply it with the sufficient power it needs...
--- Power Bank 6 (9v) inputs, total 450ma---

All inputs would be used, and also extended power coming off my pitchblack pedal... max 200ma.

On EHX website... I've just been reading that

9V Power Jack - Connect the output plug from the AC Adapter that was supplied with your Micro POG to this jack, located at the top of the Micro POG. The Micro POG accepts Boss style AC Adapters.
------------ Base of page
WARNING: Use only the 9.6VDC/200mA AC adapter the Micro POG comes supplied with. Do not use any other AC adapters. Using other AC adapters, even those made by Electro-Harmonix, could cause harm to the unit, the adapter or you. The Micro POG does not use batteries.

So I'm I risking things if I were to connect it up to my power bank ?

Would it be even more beneficial to link it from the pitchblack tuner instead as it has 200ma of it's own ?

Your advice please....

cheers

Hmm. The fact they're supplying a supply generally means it might not work well on other supplies, other times you'll get no supply and they'll try and scare you into using theirs instead of another one. It will not cause any harm to the MicroPOG to plug it into your power bank but if the current draw of the other pedals is more than 250mA it won't work. Also the plug on the pitchblack can only output 200mA MAX, seeing as this is what your MicroPOG needs then it might not work, if this is only the peak output current it might not cope with a constant pull of that amount.

Thanks Mike, After posting it landed 10 mins later...

I linked it straight from my power bank along with the other effects in the chain (I couldn't wait !!)... seemingly no probs with loss of power / output.

Is there potential for any damage now it's linked is my main concern now ? my guess is because it's underpowered if anythin, that nothing can be harmed ?

I've been googling and found other guys with similar concerns & a lot have chipped in saying they are daisy chaining / power banking it etc etc... but no real concrete answers... cept it works fine.

anyways it's a killer pedal... I think i was expecting amazing tracking on lower regions... still not totally seemless... but I think I bigged it up so much and been waiting for such a long time that I was probably expecting the unexpectable... still chuffed none the less. As far single note tracking my Dano Chilli Dog is just as nice and beefier too.

Very cool, if it works it sound be absolutely fine. The only issue I was worried about was it not getting enough Juice and not firing up since it's Digital.

Good stuff, I still wanna get one of these at some point- the octaving on the PS-5 pales in comparsion.

Delay before distortion, eh?

Thanks prog... definitely a keeper, for now anyways lol... it's getting quite a lot of use at the moment which I'm pleased about.

... I'm becoming a lot more familiar with how it responds now, compared to yesterday when I had only just briefly demo'd the pog before doin the vid. It's gone up in my estimations anyways... & it's still holding power.

Yeah... delay before dist... I've still never quite grasped the order thing... but i find when I have it the other way you get very minimal delay when distortion is operated.. :?

Every time I make a new aquisition, I try the pedal in every position and just go by ear... what would be the norm from left to right as you see it ?

cheers

Horse for courses, my friend. The "classic" order would be

Guitar > Compressor > Octaver > Distortion > Delay > Amp

..just because they work more predictably that way- putting the delay before the distortion means that as the echos fade, it's providing less input for the dirt pedal and making the echos less distorted. The other way round makes for the same distorted tone to be echoed each time.

But it's very much a personal preference, East Bay Ray from the Dead Kennedys had a Echoplex running into a distorted amp which made for some cool effects ala the start of Police Truck:

Whatever sounds best to you is the right way.
