im getting a stripped mustang body, it has a hole or route or two to patch, but then im going to refinish it back to blue (like it was). ill probably find the best match locally cuz i dont want to ay a jillion for reranch

but im gonna need a neck. is it worth waiting around trying to get a good deal on a vintage neck hoping it will play good? cuz i could get the allparts jagguar neck for 175 and know its not gonna hvae a busted truss rod or worn out frets. but im debating what to do.

and pickgaurd, i sorta want white but pearloid would be true to the original.

opinions?

I just had to pony up some cash for a Mustang neck just recently for my Duo-Sonic project, they are often on ebay but they're a bit of a crapshoot and a "good deal" on a vintage neck doesn't really exist, they're generally bid up very high.

well, the more of thought about it, it would be a bit of a disservice to not get a vintage neck to go with a vintage body, so i hope to have luck to find one for a decent price

Your best bet is looking at vintage Duo and Musicmaster necks. they will fit fine, are more common and less expensive.

yup. and you'll definitely be able to pick one up for less than $175 if you keep your eyes peeled, in my experience.

I think some people may be desperate to sell at the moment. I have always had good luck with necks.

I browse ebay systematically and there are nearly always vintage Duo or MM necks in the US for sale.

definitely. now is the time to buy... well, if you have the money. I've seen all kinds of shit on ebay for great prices just sitting there. no bids. scoop up the deals while you can. once we recover from this little economic dip, shit is going right back up.

functionally im sure a duo neck would be great but from an aesthetic perpspective id rather jsut stay authentic and get a mustang neck. otherwise id go with an allpartrs neck. but im sure it will work out.
im getting new hardware and such though, which is ok to me, im only concerned about old wood, but not old metal as much

well, I would keep your eyes out regardless. a lot times these old duo and mm necks have had the decal removed so you'd have to put a new decal on anyway. and I think that they actually were the exact same necks.

I was just going to poast that here! With those tuners, it's a great deal. Don't think twice about plugged neck screw holes. That just means you will end up with a tight fit! Extra stitch and all.
