as you all know, i got myself a lovely 65 reissue that i just can't put down. one little problem, is the trem arm supposed to come loose a lot?

basically, i put the arm in and tighten the grub screw. when i move the arm to use it then back out the way, after 2 or 3 times, the screw comes loose and my arm will come out.

i want to know this too.

i have to have a little flathead screwdrive by my amp to stop it from falling out after a minute or so of usage.

Eventually you'll gouge a hole in the trem arm so that when it's tightened, it can't move. That's what happened to me anyway.

Yeah, is annoying. But gets better as Paul said.

I would grease the grub screw with standard automotive grease. it's the same idea as fran has suggested (with vaseline) on the saddle height adjustment screws. it's standard in most mechanical applications that all screwing type situations should be greased.

i think i'm just gonna remove the mustang trem and replace it with a floyd rose and then add a single humbucker in the bridge.

Drill it! The arm, so you can use a user friendly PZ screw. Thats what all the users and abusers seem to do.

i think i'm gonna try that rubber plug thing he mentioned on that link you sent.

PS was kidding about the floyd rose and humbucker lol
