I just received my Pickguardian guard that I sent a tracing in for a few weeks ago. It doesnt frakkin' fit. Then I email him, and AFTER I buy it, he says that they can't guarentee that tracings will fit. WTF. He offered to give me a half price one if I sent that old guard in for the to be exact on. This sucks, I spent $57, and it doesn't work. That's a lot of money for me.

That sucks, especially if you sent a tracing with it and they still got it wrong.

I would suggest sourcing a premade Jaguar pickguard instead of having one custom made dude. It seems like it's proving too much trouble. What kind of Jag is yours exactly, CIJ '62?

I've never heard a good thing about pickguardian.

Well, at this point It'll be cheaper to get another custom made one than a premade sort of deal.
I'm sending him my old guard for him to exactly copy.

UGh, he says the real guard is what the prefer, but he tells me after I give him 57 bucks, so no worries. This really sucks.

I'm amazed at how shit some of the customer service in the Guitar sector is. I would literally not put up with it. I would have his balls.

I don't know how they have the brass neck to treat paying customers this way. It seems NoHo is the norm not the exception.

Yeah - But what can I do about it? Never buy from him again, that won't really effect him. Fuck. Ill end up paying 90 big ones for a pickguard that isn't sheilded. Correct me if I'm wrong, jaguar pickguards are/should be sheilded, my MIJ one is. I asked him about it, he said "the metal plates provide all the shielding you need." wtf?

Is there not some sort of organisation you could complain to? In the UK we have a Trading Standards body, who are a government body I think? Also, we have the Sale of Goods Act 1978 which protects us from a lot - I'd seek some sort of legal advice. You've paid for a service and not received it.

My guess is that with a traced pattern sent in by the buyer, the seller is protected from any actual "legal" action. It sucks and they shoudl have told you to send the original from the start. Making an exact tracing that fits is actually kind of tough. Something always seems to be just a tiny bit off.

I just did an exact comparision between guards. Almost everything seems to line up except for the bridge holes, which are to small on slightly off, so maybe he can do a quick fix? Just emailed him.

this is probably your best bet. send both guards, and have him fix it. so long as the corrections are hidden by the bridge and what-not, that's not so bad.


but, yeah, fuck this guy and his "all sales final" bullshit. when you're custom making a product, the point is to get to exactly as the customer needs. . . what a dickhead.

What doesn't fit? Is it hugely off, or is it just slightly getting caught on parts? My mustang guard that Aug made me was slightly off around the bridge, and I just sanded it down a little bit and it fit fine. Same thing happened with my Bronco pickguard that I got on ebay. the pickup route wasn't wide enough so I had to sand it down just a little bit but it worked fine.

I know, that's what I'm saying. I've never had a pickguard that I didn't have to make some minor adjustments to for it to fit. maybe this guy really fucked it up, I don't know, but if it's just a couple things are barely off, just break out the sand paper and call it done.

There is like a full centimeter of circle in the bridge holes missing, I'm sending it back tmoorrow and hoping he won't need to make a new one, which he shouldn't.

You don't need to pay anything for shielding. Get some alu foil and some spray adhesive. Spray into back of guard. Press guard on foil. Let it dry, cut around guard with knife. done.
