I think with normal pickup covers and a non-dumb pickguard that could actually be a pretty cool guitar, even though it looks like one of those mutilated mustangs from ebay.
And at least people can stop complaining about Gibson not doing anything new or original.

it has potential but needs a complete refinish, better guard, normal pickups, and a price that ISN'T $1300 usd

Try to take a bite and you’ll expose yourself to an eviscerating maelstrom of tone.
oh god not the maelstrom

That's what I was thinking...what gibson was thinking is another story. Some block inlays would work very well, also.

NEWSFLASH: Fifty years of innovation yields minor changes to the SG! I like the horns and the red but the rest ranges from bland to fugly.

Shopped this to look more '
hagstrom-ish ', it's pretty sloppy in areas but this is just a rough shop.
► Show Spoiler
Made a different gaurd, added strat jack and pickups, black headstock, and 3 knobs a 5 way blade switch. I kept the body as is, but I think to top horn could be a little less pointy.

Its horrible. It's like an SG body morphing into a strat body. "Fire Engine Red", as it says on musicians friend, is too bright for me.
