I dunno really, it looks to have four controls and some toggles, as opposed to the Memory Man's 5 controls and toggle for chorus/vibrato.
It's weird, it doesn't look all that much smaller than the new Memory Man would be if you orientated it portrait, it's definitely not as small as the pedals it will be competing against (MXR Carbon Copy).
I have my big box Deluxe Memory Man and I love it. It's a 2006 model which means no noisy attached power supply and also true bypass switching, so I think for me it's one of the best versions out there. I will probably sell it at some point in the future if I can build a delay to replace it. Until then it's getting played, in fact it's on my board for the gig tonight.

It is still pretty huge when there is no reason for it to be that big.

Have you looked inside? It is all PCB. Very tight.
I don't like the aesthetic of the new one, I think it's the footswitch being in the middle. The original is iconic, this is just bleh.

Yeah thats what I mean about there being no reason for it to be that big beyond the need for 6 knobs. However like you say, if they followed the iconic design it could have been smaller.

It is not oversized. You would struggle to fit it in a smaller case. It still uses BBDs remember. I think it is very small for the complexity of circuit.
That looks very compressed to me.

the original one had a depth knob?!?! also i don't see a switcher between vibrato and chorus

Yeah, the knob with chorus and vibrato on it, atleast it acts kind of like a depth knob.

Pretty much
The Chorus/Vibrato knob on the new one looks like a knob for a pot, but it's a 2 way selector, the same as the chorus/vibrato switch at the top of the original. It is just a two way Rate selector; Chorus is slow, Vibrato is fast.
The Depth knob on the new one is the same as the Chorus/Vibrato pot on the original (which was always a Depth control).

if i remember well scott from EHX mentioned somewhere that its not EXACTLY the same circuit as some parts were replaced for RoHS compliance. this is kind of sad, as the original sound will be lost
