quick (mostly irelevant) question

What is the difference between these Fender factory parts?
Why does Fender seem to have two different sets of packaging for their parts? There are many different parts that seem to come both ways.

The top one looks more eye catching to me, while the bottom one is more blunt like shopping for an air filter for you car. Just my two cents.

Yea, I was thinking maybe the mr. gearhead one is like replacement parts for repair at a shop while the top one is marketed directly towards the consumer. but I just bought a trem arm at guitar center with the mr. gearhead packaging so I'm not so sure.

usually the tweed package stuff is vintage reissue and the other stuff for current production. doesn't seem any set rule though.

That would make sense, but both packages have the same part number.

I haven't seen them use Mr Gearhead for years, so I'm guessing it's just older packaging.

Fender uses Gotoh kluson-types rather than real Klusons on their guitars now, don't they?

I know that the screwholes for the tuners in the back of the headstock are offset. I have Gotoh Klusons from Warmoth and the screws are all in a line, and the '65 RI Neck I have has the screws either side of the tuner in a zigzag pattern.

Anyway.
The important thing is not only am I hoping that my conversion bushings will arrive soon and work, but that I also have to drill the neck for more headstock screw holes.

hahah i remember mr. gearhead.
when you went to fender.com thats all that would come up some times was that section.
it had a search bar with a search button after it and when you clicked on it, it just gave you a 404 DNS error. it was like that for like 8 months.
fender has been behind on thier website since the internet was invented.

The Gibson website however is insane. They've turned it into a huge blog, with thousands of unedited reader comments slagging off all their own products.

It's like a scaled up version of the guitar that came with my daughter's Rock and Roll Barbie about 5 years ago.
