SO after i sold my pod i figured i was done for a while until i bought a mic. THEN i realized that i had a mic all along, a usb on, in fact. Now, i don't know which is technically better quality, usb or a standard jack, but this sounds good enough for me to do demos with i think. SO, if you have the microphone that came with the guitar hero games, or rock band i imagine, just plug it in your computer, get audacity going, and put the thing next to your amp/mouth and go!
pretty excited about my ignorant discovery so don't hate. also made a fun little update video thingy for the utube page:

quality isn't bad. need to get a cheap mic stand so it's not leaning up against it in a corner [seriously]
but it was late, and i'll drag my [somewhat] better[?] amp down tomorrow with the pedal board and demo the box of cake because it's seriously cool.
Hooray for mics! And now, of cooourse, you have the option of taking vids with the camera, recording the audio in Audacity at the same time, and synching it all up in Movie Maker.
i used to use the singstar mics (yes i owned it, that game, it's fucking amazing after a few pints with a group of people).
two mics and one usb cable, basically a complete setup for me and my acoustic guitar. it sounded alright actually.
also: try out your headphones as mics, my regular headphones are crazy bassy when used as a mic, i'll quite often put them around my acoustic so it's sort of "wearing" them and record in stereo along with recording through a normal condenser. firstly it makes the recording sound a bit more airy 'cause of the stereo signal coming from the headphones and it brings teh low tonez.
haven't tried them on my amp yet since i've not worked out a way to fit the earphone to it. they detach from the headband so i could do it somehow. i'll have to get the white-tac out or something.
