Thanks alot guys. This guitar has a couple of dings but overall it is very clean. All the parts are original except the original tuners were changed for repros

Image

and the original owner had a plexiglass pickguard cover made to protect the anodized gold pickguard.

Image

The cover can be removed but I think it looks cool the way it is and it protects the pickguard from damage like this

Yeah, keep it. It is barely visible in photos and that guitar being from '56..

Any chance of a video demo/sound clips?

Not a speck of rust on that bridge, either. Magnifique! And you have the OG tuners? You can even put new buttons on the broken ones. I think some people even buy old tuners to get the buttons off. They didn't do plastic like we do now.

I don't know about you guys but I LOVE that vintage plastic button tone. There's just something there that's really missing from today's guitars.

oh yea, and if your guitar is not 40+ years old it still thinks it's a tree, etc., etc.

Looks brand new, it's like you stepped into the delorean! Where are you hiding it?
You should do a group shot with your Cyclone and other dou, in front of your Jesus art. I think that would be a cool pic.

Thanks,I have been trying to figure out what to do about the tuners, whether to put new buttons on the originals or leave them as is and use the repros.

Image

3 of the orignals are intact but will probably crumble if I try to use them

The repros work fine but some people told me the guitar sounds better with the original Klusons on and that I should look for a good set of vintage Kluson Deluxe tuners. Why would that make a difference in sound to have the original 50's Klusons instead of the repros?

You'll have to deal with that infamous 2Khz spike that you get with new tuners.

there are some minor differences.

Image
another difference he doesn't point out is the button is flatter on the originals.

it's really of no interest to anyone but collectors though. I can't see how it could possibly effect the sound in any perceivable way. they look cool though.

Thanks for the posts.I think I will just leave the repros on.
