Yamaha SGV300 - Your impressions

So I'm thinking of getting this:

Dude is asking $300 for it which is clownshoes but I would consider it, provided I can deal it down significantly.
I have zero experience with these and I guess the unnusual design kinda worries me a little bit. I haven't bothered with HC user reviews because I find they're almost always polarized by the "unreasonable expectation" and the "justification of purchase" camps. I know Hurb has one of these and that he likes it (or at least did at the time of writing of his SS wiki profile.) Any other Shortscalers with hands-on experience with these?

Oh, and I'm thinking of using this guitar on dirt duty only. What should I expect from this guitar in this respect?

SS.org says yes?
I know Hurb had one at one point but had to sell it. You should look on youtube because he made a demo of it.

I liked it a lot. The only thing is the pickups are nice sounding, nothing amazing or anything. and because of how big and weird they are. if the pickups are not what you are after, then It may be a bitch to mod them.

but worth a punt I think.

You know I like it.

Never played or heard one but based on it's oddness, I love it.

I'd love one, think they are great looking. Trem looks nice, too, sort of Mosrite-ish.

Thanks for the feedback, fellas.
Any idea how the pickups respond to high gain?

Hurb, you wouldn't happen to have that demo kicking around, would you?

That's exactly what I did.
To which he simply responded: "sold"
To which I responded: "as in to me?"
to which he responded: "uh, no."

I got fucking Spangled.

That's two Spangles in one week.

We're tracking one on ebay now because the mere introduction of the possibly of having one, awakened a beast of NEED.
