But chose not to include the LED and therefore didnt need the power supply. Like this:



When the footswitch is off the guitar sounds good/normal. But when i click it on i just get a loud buzz.

The ground wires are the black wires in the top diagram? I connected them all, then onto the lower left pin on the switch. Im using a DPTD swith like the 2nd diagram btw.

Take photos of what you've done please.

Here's a photo:



- I only had green wire in the cellar but to make it easier to see which wire is connected to what i coloured them on photoshop. They are the same colours as in the 1st diagram.

-It looks a mess, I know. But that isnt a reason for it not to work lol

I can see right away that your output jack is wired wrong. the ground tag is the one that is connected to the metal circle, not the outside one. The outside one is your signal. Fix all the jacks that are wired incorrectly in this way

argh i changed ALL the jacks. I stupidly did them all the other way lol but it still has a buzz. not as loud though.

could be a grounding problem.

Well, i had wired the ground wires to the wrong bit on the jacks.. but i fixed all that now. The grounding should be OK. hmmmmmmm

i dunno. im getting annoyed now, and i have 2 lovely burns.

Possibly a stupid suggestion, but could the buzz be because it's not earthed properly if all the jacks aren't touching the same thing (ie. an enclosure)?

I am a superstitious bumpkin, mind, and have little truck with that electricity. I mistrust it, because I cannot see it.

Take another picture and annotate again please. I'll sort it.

Ok... it hasnt changed much, just the jacks re-wired. I will try and take closer photos of each part

Ok, here is a close photo of each component, wires labeled.(its a big'un) My shitty soldering could be whats wrong, the annoying wire frays at the end. I need to cut them bits off.

WHEN IT SAYS 'to top left' IT MEANS THE TOP LEFT PIN ON THE DPTD etc. top left, middle left, bottom left. and same for right side.
'TO GROUND' meaning to the bottom left pin, where all the ground wires are connected.

redo the soldering, some of the connections are not good. and watch out for stray bits of wire

Ok. It was a rushed job to be honest. I just wanted to do some practice before my parts arrive for the fuzz pedal.

hahah yeah. It's hiding the worlds worst soldering mess. There is also an angry face on one of the jacks lol

haha love those pics.

I would say resoldering and keeping all excess wire to a minimum would be good, it will be making a contact you don't want. Careful you don't have stuff connecting via the pot casing etcs.
