Any of you guys had experience with this? thoughts? Looks pretty good but to buy the new version is expensive.

It's cool and stuff, but it's pretty much better (and maybe cheaper?) to get yourself a good amp and a mic. The effects there are not so nice, so don't bother if you're after flanger/chorus/fuzz/whatever.

what are you buying it for?
if late night practise and scratch recordings > http://www.wavesgtr.com/html/product_gtr_solo.html

it's free for a year and, although pretty stripped down, it does it's job.

Thanks for the link Reece, looks pretty good for free. Do you use it yourself?

Yeah just want to be able to get some songs together at home for the band, been looking around for some half decent all in one programs that let you record your guitar through some virtual amps. Also one that allows you to create some drums loops etc. Can't mic up an amp at home, live in a terrace!!!

i use guitar rig or that, usually guitar rig for flevibilty but i could quite happy just use gtr-solo if it came down to it.

the dealbreaker for me is that guitar rig has a looper and gtr-solo doesnt.

Guitar Rig is an excellent piece of software. If you can "get hold" of Guitar Rig2 or Guitar Rig3 then go for it, it's got some brilliant sounds and is perfect for silent practise or scratch recording.

Amplitube is better overall. Less effects but better amp modeling.

Buy the digitech Rp500 or 1000 model, and it plugs into your computer too and can be used on your amp IRL. ITs the best option.
