What does the routing look like in the MIJ mustang reissues?

I want to move the switches below the pickups (because I'm constantly hitting them when I play), is there room without routing?

No.
You'll have to route a channel.

Yeah, figured as much. I might try to find some longer screws to mount them deeper in the body (barely not flush) and that would probly solve the problem too, and with much less effort. Thanks for the tip. I was thinking the bodies might be like those strat bodies with the massive cavity...

I've not seen one with a swimming pool route, its generally a budget thing tbh.
Most people seem to sink the switches if its an annoyance.

Lefty advice: even though it says lefty advice, I know you don't want to put the switches below the pickups. I have a mustang I flipped, the switches are below the pickups, I have a tendency to hit them MORE than I do on my actual left handed mustang, where the switches are at top.
I don't know how you play, but I don't see how moving them would help, at all.
However, if they do annoy you, just do as Fran said, and sink them.

My cack-handed pick technique means I hardly ever hit the switches, but +1 for sinking them with some rubber tubing or something, I swear a member has done that, with pics and everything.

On js.com, there is a guide that says you can drop the switches with tiny washers, or you could glue it in with a dab of hot glue

It's pretty simple stuff using longer screws and spacers and whatnot to keep them down there. I think if you like the Mustang enough though, you'll start adapting to miss the switches while you're playing in no time.

Yeah, I decided to get some longer screws and pickup springs and sink them by essentially mounting them the way pickups are mounted (in a fender anyway). The problem is finding screws. I need a 4-40 x 1" and home depot/lowes don't have them with the rounded top. I'll post pics once I get it done, I ordered the springs today with a bunch of parts for a re-wiring job I'm doing on my epi LP junior.
Thanks for the tips, guys!

Pickup sinking complete, they're essentially mounted the way pickups are mounted (they're pickup mounting springs, actually):

Again, thanks for the tips, guys. I've been lurking here for years, but haven't posted. I might be back soon if I have questions about a re-wiring job I'm doing this weekend.

And here's a body shot (with my others)
I'll go post in the "gear here" thread too, since I'm kinda new and all.
