It's 300 miles from me. I'm kinda tempted.

You would struggle to buy a CIJ without case in the UK for that money.

Yeah. The guy seems kind of oblivious about guitars but also said that he's seen them sell for like 1000 and he's just trying to get rid of it. He got it from the original owner who had it since high school. I hope it's not totally fucked somehow; this seems a little too good to be true.

it does seem too good to be true, so hopefully you've got some friends who live in the area to make trip even more worth your while. . . good luck!

Thanks! I don't have anyone to visit but some of my friend are coming and it's a really pretty drive. It'll be a nice little day trip regardless. We can play MASH and eat snacks.

Yeah but paying someone you don't know and who lives hours away from you without some previous experience/realtionship is risky. At least on ebay/paypal there are options if you get screwed. If you just send someone $ fora craigslsit add you are a lot more likely to end up screwed. PLus what if the neck is all fucked up and/or it is not really vintage/legitimate?

I'd love to go on a road trip just to buy something. Besides Canadian methotrexate.

+1.
My Toronado was The Journey of Death. The weather turned into a rainstorm and the heaters broke in the car, so the windows were constantly misted up, i could'nt see a thing except for the huge Lorries. But i carried on lol, the journey back was way better.
The Burny Les Paul trip ended up a day out with teh missus. :)
