Seems like a good deal...

Been thinking pretty strongly on a LP clone type... I had ruled Epi's out because of the price, but this seems like a good deal though the higher end of what I was looking to pay.
Worth going for? Think I could offer less?

Seriously the gold hardware is a turn off for me... it almost makes me not want it at all. Almost.hotrodperlmutter wrote:LOL NO SHIT?Guitar sounds amazing through, most noticeably, a Marshall cab or distortion driven unit.
that's a pretty good price, although i'd offer $250 because it has gold hardware

I bought a mint one of those (in the DC area) for $200 and it was mint. I sold it for the same price. The new buyer kept asking me why I was selling it for so low. Usually they seem to go for about $300. It had a crisp tone that could be easily distorted into pure rawk. At the time I just couldn't warm up to it. The stink of vintage has wrecked my judgment. They may vary from model to model, but can be a great bang for the buck.

I've actually been looking at the LP's by these guys.blacktaxi wrote:What about Xaviere guitars that are sold by GFS? I think they have pretty close LP clones, and are dirt cheap - might be your best bet if you're considering cheap lp copy.

I've heard nothing but good things about them. and they're about as cheap as guitars get.
I've decided not to go for the epi... the gold hardware is just not my thing and at that price point I'd prefer not to settle.

Don't forget that GFS guitars already come with very good pickups and electronics.endsjustifymeans wrote:I've actually been looking at the LP's by these guys.blacktaxi wrote:What about Xaviere guitars that are sold by GFS? As for epi - I think they're overpriced too much, about as much as gibson.

I eye those up occasionally, but my hi-flyer already has dual p-90's. I'm definitely after some dual humbucker action.hotrodperlmutter wrote:i go to their site at least once a week just to browse, but i barf everytime i see the layout.endsjustifymeans wrote:I've actually been looking at the LP's by these guys.

I check their site almost daily. They sometimes have amazing deals occasionally in the "Scratch and dent" section.

If you can find a Japanese ESP "Edwards" Les Paul, those are really on par with Gibsons around the $1500-$2000 price range, and usually cheaper than an Epi when you find one in the States (they're not officially sold here due to copyright laws though so it's a used shop/eBay only affair unfortunately... they copy the look very closely).
They're built to a very high standard of quality/playability for a solidbody dual-humbucker setneck carve-top IMO. And some are equipped with Duncan buckers (the real ones such as '59s and JBs, not the "designed by" stuff or weird metalbuckers) as standard.
Epiphone Les Pauls are not good right now. Someone should sort that out.

no it's a studio, there's no binding, and also on this model, no fret markers besides the ones on the side of the neck. FLAT BLACK.endsjustifymeans wrote:oooohh... WOULD!
I just hate the stupid gothic cross so much... is it bound?
the cross thing is on the headstock and could be easily covered with electronical tape.

lol. pix.
i really like this guitar, it is my main AXE right now. i've changed to GFS pickups, but probably should have just kept the stock ones in lol.
