Sure it isn't just MF cutting their margin?
I fancy an AM Std Jazz Bass in Midnight Wine

MAP pricing, son. If this is not at the very least approved by fender, MF will lose their ass.

I find it hilarious that Gibson currently has 6 to 9 U.S. made guitars for under $1,000 and Fender doesn't have any. They have the Highway which is mexican/us made thing.

Whoever made that move at Fender totally failed.

Whatever happened to Fender's identity as the working man's guitar... wasn't the whole point of the Fender build style to be a cheaper yet quality instrument?

Fuck Fender. They've priced me out of their equipment at this point.

+1. Although the price drop is a step in the right direction...

It's pretty bad when some of the best guitars they make are some of the least expensive (classic vibe)...

The fucked up thing is it isn't hard to find a used strat. There really isn't any reason to buy a new one because there's such a glut on the second-hand market.

The trewth.

All but one of the guitars/basses I've ever bought in almost 20 years has been used. It's pretty easy to find newish instruments on the used market that have not even a slight blemish, so why buy new when you can find what you need for cheaper just by taking the time to look?

I bet nobody is buying. No company does a whole line product increase only to lower prices on certain products a couple months later. That's called an oopsie, Fender probably saw sales going down and the revenue wasn't matched by the increased prices so they had to make a correction.

This is all specualtion by the way but it makes sense.

Does anyone see the irony in a thread bitching about Fender with music from a cartoon band that is Gibson endorsed, using 3d models direct from the company?

Well, at least Gibson has their shit on cool shows. If fender were supplying guitars for cartoons, they would probably be about the adventures of fat old lawyers and their strat collections.

i brought up a point to a few friends the otherday.
i bought my mexi jazz bass brand new in 98 or 99, and i remember it was 320. plus shipping, and i opted for the sunburst finish.
the last issue of MF had them for 689.00 with a burst finish.
that link shows one for 600.
but still. 10 years. and the price has doubled.

Will these price drops be permanent, though? Or is it a sale?
