Got a Jag HH today

Post by Shaguar »

No not the one that was four hours away, I scored one off of fleabay. It arrived today in a box filled with foam peanuts that made their way to every nook and cranny in my kitchen as I was unpacking the guitar.

After unpacking it I checked it for visual defects as per the sellers description, there were only light scuff marks around the back of the upper horn. For some reason this one has chrome pickup rings as opposed to black ones like in the fender ads and others I've seen online.

The seller was getting rid of it at a good price, 600$ BIN. Both stock pickups were replaced with Duncan SH-6's. WAY too hot for me, especially in the neck position. The stock pickups were included so I think I'll get rid of the neck SH-6 and get something a little more mellow. I havent really decided on the bridge pickup yet. I cant tell if I like it or not.

Here she is next to my Bronco bass and barracuda Strat copy:

I know in my first ever post here I said I wouldnt buy a Jag HH model because it didnt have a trem, but meh, the Stratocopy has one and I never use it. I need colour in my collection. Black is getting lame.

Oh one cool thing that the seller did was he included a CD of his band in the Gig Bag. I thought that was really neat. Not my kind of music (blues) but it gave the whole transaction a more human touch rather than the robotic ebay score-pay-recieve-leave feedback thing.

Not a bad deal for a Jag, but get some colour in your collection!

Nice! The ones I have seen have always had chrome pickup covers. Never seen them with black covers :?

EDIT -- ha, I'm guessing you mean the pickup rings. my bad. Maybe a mod by the previous owner?

Chrome pickup rings sound awful but they don't look to bad in that photo. They fit in with all the chrome on there.

I have no idea if he did or not. He was selling a bunch of other guitars on fleabay too. I'm guessing this was one of his live guitars and he just didnt feel it was the right guitar for him. I mean the way I see it, you get a guitar then add SD pickups in it and then sell it, to me that means he tried to get a specific sound out of it but it just didnt work out.

that makes sense. would be cool if he did though, would be sort of like a collection of his favorite tones. anyways sorry off topic, carry on.
