What the hell? Did Fender really ever make these?

Hey guys, just surfing the bay and found this mustang. It has a birds eye neck and a flame top and a solid color back. This guy claims it's vintage but I have never seen one like this before, do you guys know if Fender ever really made these back in the day? The pickups are not original as you can see. Weird

The headstock shape looks wrong. The logo isn't in the right place either, so it's possibly the headstock is the right shape and it's the Fender logo being in the wrong place, but I think both are wrong.
If it's real its foto flame, but it's certainly not 60s. It'd be... fuck it it's fake. The rosewood looks old but the back of the neck doesn't justify that amount of fretboard wear. It's possibly a 60s body (slab innit) that's been oddly refinished and then an aftermarket neck.

I saw that one a few days ago. Mustangs were never sold with flame maple tops, not even foto-flame. I'm guessing it's a Warmoth parts guitar that the seller is trying to pass off as vintage.

i dunno, the finish looks haggardly worn, not like, played on, mojo worn, just like, too much smoke. probably a 70's refin with maybe a newer warmoth neck (WHY?) but around the neck plate it looks like it was once red.

-bring the hate-
i could care less about that guitar, but the neck(maple) is amazing.
of course its a fake of some sort. the upper horn and lower horn are all sorts of off.
i bet it was made in the 70's or early 80's by someone.
