Robert(OG) Jazzmaster project

I bought this Jazzmaster body from Robert(Original) almost two years ago. Finally due to the perfect convergence of various factors (time, weather, lack of plants on balcony), I've finally been able to start painting the damn thing!
It was originally going to be Daphne blue (Ludger was kind enough to score some Reranch nitro for me and sneak it into Canada), but I've decided to save that paint for another project, most likely a custom mustang of some sort. So I've decided on Krylon orange! I'm seriously debating if I should give it red competition stripes. I've already bought a can of red, I'm just not sure if the orange is too deep a colour for having a comp stripe. Krylon didn't have an orange that was a close match to Fender's yellowish-orange hue as used on the compstangs.
Since I'm painting on my balcony, I'm using the old-school Fender technique of a rotating tablet and nails in the body (to suspend it above the tablet when flipped over to allow both sides to dry without touching anything) since I don't have anything to hang a paint stick from.

I'm sceptical about an orange Jazzmaster, but comp stripes would def be horrible.

i think the orange looks great, gives it a vintage fiesta red vibe. The comp stripes will look gay on a Jazzy though, imo.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I agree with you guys, the stripes aren't going to look good. I think it would only work if the colours were an exact match to the classic comp orange, but the Krylon paint I'm using is more of a faded Fiesta red.

I'd like a daphne blue comp stripe on that if you were to stripe it

That would be amusing... I could just paint a black jack-o-lantern face on it. I was originaly going to do that on my orange fuzz pedal that Mike made for me, but I never got around to it.

Hmm... wouldn't that clash?

Complementary colors never clash.

Leave it as is, I think it looks brilliant right now.
Make sure you go white or mint on the guard. No Sparkles, Tort or Pearl.

I've already got a white pickguard courtesy of Robert(Original) for this one.
The neck I have is a maple fingerboard MIM strat neck. I don't think matching headstocks look good on maple boarded necks, plus I'd rather not modify the neck right away, in case I decide that I don't like it and sell it to get a different neck. If I end up with a rosewood neck, I'm definitely matching the headstock, though.

I had forgotten about Fullerplast's beautiful relic job when I bought the paint, but once I started painting it was the first thing that popped into my mind. His Jazzy is a thing of beauty, if mine comes out looking half as nice, I'll be quite pleased.

White pickguard ftw. The only other I'd consider would be parchment. It's gonna look real nice with a maple neck too.
