I've been quite intrigued by the G&L name after learning that it is Leo Fender 'perfecting' his original designes [strat/tele]. Anyone given these things a play? We all know and love Leo's original designes [for the most part], but who else is interested in his "finished" work?

Some things i've noticed
The large rectangular pickups look 'odd'
the saddle lock idea is really interesting and i like the bigger bridge
headstocks are dead ugly, leo had it right the first time
ASAT Special is a dumb name for Telecaster

I've played some SC-2s and SC-3s, they weren't that great but in need of a set-up, seemed basically alright... would rather have a nice strat fwiw.
I hate the way the pickups look and the pickguard-less designs but that's not a big deal unless you're hung up on yourself. Jazzmasters look weird too, we're just used to them.
I don't play modern G&Ls because they're out of my price range (not to say I wouldn't spend that much on a guitar, just that it wouldn't be a G&L if I did).

yea, I actually really love the way all the G&L pickups look. I wish they would sell their strat pickups (w/ the hex-nut poles) separately.

I played a "Keef" styled G&L telecaster, and I must say, t'was something good.

Personally I love G&L's fantastic guitars, better built than the Fender American series, just no re-sale value.

Must say I like the SC's quite a bit.

Our guitarist played one for a while until it got nicked. It was one of the proper US ones, and it was fucking brilliant. But I've played the "budget" ranges, and they're just as good, as well as having exactly the same pickups as the US guitars.
