What looks better on a black guitar, red or brown tort?

So which one is the better looker? I found a cheap source for brown tort material (grizzly.com) but I see that there is also red tort available at GPR.

Anybody have pics of black guitars with brown or red tort? I'm looking to change the PG on my Jag HH.

I like red tort on black guitars, but I prefer white 3 ply guards or mint on black guitars.

Haha the wooden one. I reckon brown torty would work on black better than red torty, might look abit tacky and cheap.

I think it depends what you can get your hands on. Some brown tort is so dark it looks quite boring with black. But a red tort guard could be too bright and look pretty nasty.

Dark brown tort. Personally I think it's too dark and doesn't stand out enough:

I would lean towards the red/brown one that dan posted (in the middle) though I guess it's hard to know what you're getting if you're getting it online. Different batches and that.

Say purplehaze, is that an aftermarket PG? If it is where was it from?

When I got my black Jazz Bass I was considering tort and tried to find some pics. Here're the ones I saved.

That doesn't really answer your question, but it shows some different examples of tort on black that might help you a bit.

Yeah man, its just a standard Fender USA/Mexican pickguard bought from Guitar Center.
