A Jaguar project, **finished**

This is another guitar I've had sitting around that I bought for cheap.
It's mid 90's, Japanese made that I scored localy.
I should start by saying I don't like sunburst and I bought it with the intent of repainting it.
Originally I planned on doing it in Lake Placid Blue, but after seeing pictures of an awesome 60's
Jag in Fiesta Red I knew that's what I was going to do to it.
There are plenty of dings and dents on it and the hardware shows signs of wear. So I'm not going
to make it pristine, but at the same time it's not going to be reliced either, just aged looking.
I started collecting parts for it to do some upgrades. I got a mint guard, a dot and bound neck from
a '65, and all new pots/rollerpots and switches.
After the neck came in the mail I installed the tuners and played it for a couple hours.
It felt really nice even though it's a bit small for the neck pocket.

I sprayed out some tests to see if I would need to prime the body or just go over the sunburst.

It's pretty transparent, so I sanded down the body and primed with white shellac.
After few coats of color then more coats of clear, here's where I'm at.
It will need to sit for about a month before I can wetsand and polish it out.
I ordered a new decal for it that will have the Fender part done with a black outline and filled with white
and the Jaguar part done in solid white. I'm planning on putting it over the finish once it's been buffed out.
In the mean time I plan on getting a set of Duncan quarter pounders for it.

Fiesta Red looks great on that jaguar. A few more tests and you'll have that bronco painted as well.

Very nice. All of those colours in the photos look neat together.

That Bronco body has come in handy durring all of this ;}
Now that I have a couple extra necks laying around I might have enough parts to throw it together.

Matching headstock has no place on a Swinger. I just put a fresh coat of tinted clear on it so it wasn't so pale looking.
Lake Placid Blue has been the easiest color to work with. It lays out beautifully and only took half a can to cover the Candy Apple Red that is under it with no prime coat! After the first coat it had a depth to it.

I've heard that the quarter pounders are kind of hot for single coils and I've got so many guitars with rails in them that I just want a 'regular' sounding Jag.
And don't be disapointed, the face of the headstock had been refinished already. It looked like it was LPB originally.

I'm just glad I didn't fuck this one up (yet). And who knows...we may see pictures of a Calico guitar when it's all said and done.

I hear what yer saying, but it's goofy looking enough as it is and doesn't need any more help from me.

and yeah, it's from a 60's Bronco.

I could have spent more time getting more glossy by buffing it more, but I wanted kind of an older look.
I'm waiting on the decal, it should be here this week, printed in white with black outline.
I still need to get better pickups for it too.

And as promised the 'Calico Bronco'. I'm missing some of the parts to the trem, so it's a hard tail.

Did I mention that the Swinger is done too?
The tinted top coat made it really green and there are spots that I held the buffer longer and more blue came out.
I don't mind the look it gives.

Your right, I don't know what it is, but it turned out less orange/red and more on the pink side.
