all that black shit on the pickguard is from me playing it.

i bought a bag of 200 black heavy picks from Allparts like back in 2002.

never bought a pick since

How long does one of those picks last? I've been using fender heavies lately and after about a week of playing they're just nubs.

You seriously scrape it that much... ? seems quite unorthodox to me...
------------
also fender picks are proper plastic... and i find they snap easily rather than wear out.

Dunlop & the like are made of a more rubbery compound & just wear & soften.

all my guitars have that shit on them to one extent or another.

thats why some people call it a scratch guard. it prevents "scratching" of the guitar

i'm not sure which i find more amusing... the fact that so many people responded to that, or that i was kidding.

i'll say it again, neither belong on any guitar. the switchtip is black. as to not draw so much attention to the most meaningless part of your guitar.

I'm with you, black is the way to go. Although I think a metal tip would be cool too.
