Just so you know, here is one of the freaky models I am working on right now. This weekend I will compile pictures an details of the other projects.
Kustom K200
In 1968 the Kustom amp company developed and marketed a rounded off, hollow body electric guitar. Bud Ross was the original owner of the company, and he assembled a team to design and build the K-200 Kustom guitar, in Chanute KS. The design combines attributes of Fender, Rickenbacker, and Mosrite. Bud Ross was involved in negotiations with Mosrite founder Semi Mosley, about Kustom being the distributors for Mosrite after Mosrite lost their Ventures endorsement and suffered financial setbacks. The guitars were only produced for a few years before Kustom was sold and moved to Ohio.
The model I am working on was listed on ebay as being a Framus or unknown model, until one of the bidders let the owner know it was a Kustom. The body had been totally stripped, and the neck looks NOS or at least mint. I managed to nail down a Harmony Dearmond harness for cheap, and a few other parts to put it together with. At the moment, the Ocean Turquoise is curing until the end of the month. The K200s were available in several colors, but few appealed to me. It looks to have a large, hollow mahogany body, with half inch round-overs, like a Fender. It will look like the one below, with a few mods. as with many of the guitars I have worked on, it was cheap, and there was ZIPPY info or parts available, so I had to go a little rogue. Already I can tell it is going to be a monster. I doubt if I will keep it.
