Who knows Gibson Les Pauls? Project update, now with pics!
So I'm installing hardware purchased from GFS into my Gibson LP body, and I bought the wider studs for the bridge that they sell. But as it turns out, my tail pieces holes are also cut wider than the studs for the tailpiece.
Where can I get Stop Tail studs that are wide enough for a USA made Gibson LP? This is a massive pain, I was so exited to get everything put together tonight... GFS apparently only has this size tailpiece stud. They are also not long enough, they don't come to the bottom of the hole and thus don't make contact with the ground wire. BOO!
Any help?
Everything else is working out fine, except they screwed up and gave me some of the wrong bushings for my tuners, but they're sending along the proper bushings.

Honestly considering it... I don't have a single guitar with a tremolo at the moment. All hardtails.damienblair17 wrote:DEW IThotrodperlmutter wrote:bigsby?

Talked to the local shop today, apparently import LP's have smaller studs in both the bridge and tail piece than American made do. Something to do with metric bull crap.
They may have an extra set of studs for me, they told me to swing by after work.

change it to what you actually own and you might get more help
The studs I recieved are "import" sized. For an Epi or clone.
I've since picked up correct USA sized studs at the guitar shop.

I've been forced to opt for chrome hardware because of the "US" sizing. Apparently Gibson makes it rediculously hard to find blacked out stop tails in proper US sizes.Noirie. wrote:Its the gothic one right? Lets see pic
It's still looks hella cool, I'll takes some pics when it's a bit further along. The Green perloid scratch plate would have thrown off the whole goth thing anyway.
