I was in there today buying some cables and noticed they charge 25 POUNDS to change the strings on a Floyd Rose

While that's an obscene amount of money, changing streengz on locking trems can be royal pain in the arse- more time consuming than anything. AND TIME IS MONEY, YEAH?

I suppose a pack of strings is a fiver, and it's at least an hours work if you're changing gauge and everything.

it took me forfucking ever to get good at changing the strangs on my gretsch with the bigsby. but yeah, 50 bucks to change strings can GIT TAE.

I can do Floyd Roses all day. It's a piece of piss, but Bigsbys are a nightmare. I once replaced the strings on my brother's Hodad. Took me ages and was very frustrating.

I remember having a lot of trouble with the fact that the bolt for the string nut to catch on was on the underside of the barrel, so I couldn't get to it.

I know seriously. yeah, it's not exactly a stop-tail but come on, it's not that hard. you just gotta bend the ring at the end of the string so they stay on.Sloan wrote:trouble stringing a bigsby??? wtf.
