Wathca "GASsin" for?
mine would have to be this, as i don't have a shortscale anymore, and it looks balls cool yet simple.

Weber is releasing a kit for a Supro Thunderbolt clone: 30W from 2 6L6s and a 15" speaker for $500. I'd probably put in some 12AY7s and run it clean-and-mean. I'm a little torn because I almost never need an amp that loud.
For right now I'd like some 12AY7s and a set of Mil-spec EL84s for my Ampeg to get more headroom.

I'm considering getting one of these.

Orangew 20w solid state bass amp. They're £99 rrp and there's one reduced to £79 in a local shop. I currently have a bassman and a vibrochamp. The bass channel on the bassman is superb for bass, the guitar channel is pretty much my perfect guitar amp (would like reverb on the cleans but I'll get a pedal for that) but I only turn the bassman on about twice a week as it's so loud. The vibro champ is a great low volume guitar amp but useless for bass. I've been using it so far but I would like a small solid state bass amp for day to day use.
I was looking at these online last night and realised that £79 new is a good price. I'll go watch some youtube videos now and possibly pick one up tomorrow if the shop still has any.

This was in the new shop which are yet to prove themselves to be cunts. We both know they are because they're a guitar shop but I like to imagine that even though they're probably a chain, and very much in the 'new stock at rrp only' style (with the occasional offer like this one) there's a chance they won't be. From memory they had the amp on display so at the least they should be able to sell me that one even if they don't have any other stock.benecol wrote:James, a friend at work has one of those Oranges (might be the 30W version, actually) and he really rates it. The thing to look out for is places saying they have stock, but not actually having stock - kept happening to him round here.
I have work in half an hour but I'll try and go down there in the morning and play it, although I now have two disadvantages to trying it out. I'll have the equivilant of playing a guitar with 9s when you're used to 12s and my bass used flatwound rather than woundround strings. Still, I'm only really looking at how it handles the low end, it doesn't need to be some sort of mojo filled magix box. I'll aim to try to 30w too.
Incidentally, Proggy, that Vintage Modern head where Mike bought his JCM800 is now £399. I can't remember if that's the same price it was before but it does look quite sexy in purple.
