Orange bass amp and new Jazz Bass pics

As mentioned in the gas thread (all other guitars forum) I bought one of these but it had a noise issue. I took it back for a replacement and it's all good. Great amp for the money and exactly what I was looking for. It's a little big, but it sounds better enough than the 20w version that I can live with the extra size and slight extra cost. It's a Crush 35b which I think is discontinued now and you can pick them up for around £110-130, I paid £119 in a shop which isn't bad going at all.
Here's an Iceybomb starting with the noisy one and followed by pics of the new one. I've added an 'F' neck plate and put the stock black guard back on my bass too (after drilling it for the thumbrest and pickup cover. Annoyingly it had pickup cover holes but they were too narrow for my cover so now it has extra). There's an old pic with the off-white guard for comparison thrown in there as well.

Looks much nicer with the black guard on it.
I'm not a fan of the pickup or bridge covers but that's just me.

Very nice indeed, sir. My vote goes with ALL BLACK J BASS, but it looks surprisingly nice in the tuxedo get-up.
How distorted does the amp get with the gain wound up?
You get a

for the F plate though.

What's the phone input all about? Some sort of enormous hands-free kit?

I put it on because of the F on the front. It doesn't make any difference, especially being on the back but it was sat in the parts box and looks better than the blank one.
Even with the gain all the way up it doesn't distort, maybe my pickups are fairly low output for a bass. I haven't tried it with any pedals yet but it could make a difference there I suppose.

I lurv the Crush series. They're designing a 100W 1x15 Crush bass combo that I think I may have to pick up.

I prefer the white guard, but both do look good.

Looks very nice, definitely prefer the black guard. I've got pickup covers on my Cruiser jazz bass copy but thinking about taking the bridge cover off for palm muting, have you found yours to be a nuisance at all?

It's a headphone out jack isn't it?

Not yet, although I intend to. I probably will tomorrow. Frankly the quality is ridiculous for the money. Even as a soldi ststa eamp it should cost something like double. I'd say £250 would be a fair price for the tones and volume it puts out.
As far as the chrome goes, I think it looks a lot better than exposed pole pieces and I find myself using the pickup cover as a finger rest quite often. I'd sort of like to see a black jazz bass with white pickguard and then a white robroe on the bridge pickup and a black robroe on the neck. You can buy black and white open covers, and black robroes, but I've never seen white robroes. Covers look great to me though. Classy as they come. If I were to get another bass my first choice would be a Rickenbacker but I'd be happy with a Japanese P Bass (matching silver series would be cool) or even a parts jazz bass. Any of those three would get covers without question.
