two years ago, you couldn't open a thread on shortscale without seeing a tele in it. that tide seems to have shifted to jags. it seems like everybody has or wants one now.

I APPROVE, although i still think teles are rad.

I have 3 teles and love them all. I do have a 64 jag but it's too prescious to me to make it my main guitar.

Fashionz.
Two completely different guitars to suit different players imo. I am glad the Tele overkill has ended though, i got sick of seeing them.

I always think that the Jag and the Tele are two quite similar sounding guitars hactually Francis.

jags are a bit more sparkly than teles cos of the 1meg pots, no? besides, i've heard that the jag pickups are more similar in design to strat coils, only with the claw and different covers.

My far less scientific method tells me:

THIS WUN GO BRRAAANG. THIS WUN GO BRRAAANG TO.

The Jag is an idiosyncratic fiddly guitar that requires care and attention, the Tele is a bashers guitar- nothing can really go wrong with it. The Jag has less sustain and less grit, but offers way more at the same time.

The Jag's straight bridge pickup is also more high end-biased than the Tele's angled one, if mainly on the thicker strings.

But aside form these differences, they're virtually identical.

jaguars and teles are my favorite guitars...and until recently the only guitars I've owned...jaguars are complexity and teles are simplicity...

To paraphrase Marr on the subject: when you're playing a Jag you're very aware that it's a complex machine with lots of moving parts so it takes thought and more of your attention to play it, where as a Tele is a very artistic brick.

I agree with that. Both are excellent but unbelievably different in how I respond to them and how they respond to me. They're both Fender and both solid body bolt-ons with 2 single coils, in my opinion that's where the similarity ends.

mmm, not mine. My "normal" teles were always brighter than my "nomral" jags. The 69 bridge pickup was very close. But this CP jag Im rocking is one of the darker guitars Ive ever owned.

That's why we're having the Robroe Jag project. I gotta bump that thread and see what's up. I think both Sub and Mezzio volunteered to do assembly.

i don't know why it took me so long to get a jag. i thought mustangs were the shit until i played my jagmaster. when i realized how close they are to jags, i couldn't possibly do without. it feels great in my hands, and the single coils make whatever bullshit i play sound right cool.

i just can't get on with a tele. i've had like 3 and i play them for about 45secs then have to put it down because it feels like a piece of plywood with a bat on it.

I WILL PLAY THIS JAG UNTIL SOMEONE KILLS IT WITH BEER.
